Become a Volunteer Mentor

Are you friendly, enthusiastic and eager? Do you want to help newcomer youth establish themselves and their careers in Canada? We are seeking volunteer mentors to help guide and support our newcomer youth who have started their journey to volunteering in Canada in our Newcomer Skills Accelerator Program.

Perhaps you were (or are!) a newcomer to Canada yourself. Do you remember when you arrived, and the feeling of isolation and ‘not fitting in’ that you had? What support do you wish you had back then? Even if you are not a newcomer, perhaps you are a current or past volunteer and want to help others cultivate a passion for service. This may be the opportunity you are looking for. Consider helping a newcomer youth on their journey to becoming a full and active Canadian citizen. We need you!

By becoming a volunteer mentor, you will help the newcomer youth volunteer and gain your own successes along the way, such as leadership, coaching and developing cross-cultural communication skills.

“Open-ended questions provided in the host guide were very helpful. Diversity and inclusion were highlighted topics. Being free and living in peace was expressed with gratitude. Greatly supported & respected the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives & honoured guests. The day certainly felt balanced with a strong Indigenous presence. An emotional, beautiful and humbling experience.”
