ICC community citizenship ceremonies are a celebration of Canada’s newest citizens and offer unique opportunities to reflect on what it means to be active, engaged citizens. We were thrilled to work with the University of British Columbia to welcome 60 new Canadian citizens at our ceremony in Vancouver on November 6, 2018.

Embracing Diversity: A Cultural Celebration of Canadian Citizenship at the Ontario Science Centre

On April 12, 2024, the Institute for Canadian Citizenship hosted an Enhanced Citizenship Ceremony at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Ontario, marking a significant milestone for 48 individuals from 33 different countries as they were warmly welcomed into the Canadian family by Judge Hardish Dhaliwal.

In a multicultural country like Canada, the citizenship ceremony has always been a celebration of unity in diversity. It represents the idea that anyone, regardless of their background, can become a proud Canadian. This ceremony, however, was a poignant reminder that the country's history is not without its dark chapters.
